How does the earth act as a magnet?

  • Have you ever thought that earth would be a magnet?Honestly I have never thought, but if we find it scientifically "yes" the earth act as a giant magnet. So we'll see how it happens. In the middle of the earth its the inner core and beneath the inner core its the outer core. The outer core contains a special liquid called "molten metal". Flowing of this liquid metal in the outer core generates electric currents and the rotation of the earth around its own axis supports the earth to form a magnetic field in this area. This was first concluded by Sir William Gilbert in 1600 s. If we refer on more information it is clear that earth acts as a electromagnet while sun acts as a magnetic star.
